Compensation range: $15 - $20 USD / hour

Shared_Studios is launching one of our iconic gold shipping containers (portals) as part of this year’s holiday market in Detroit’s Cadillac Square! We are looking for independent contractors to join our team who are outgoing, enthusiastic individuals that will serve as facilitators in our Detroit in Dialogue Portal! In this role, you will operate and administer the Detroit in Dialogue Portal at Cadillac Square in partnership with  Bedrock Detroit and facilitate transformative conversations in the portal using Shared_Studios approach to conversation facilitation. This role is not an offer of employment, but rather a project-based engagement.

This is a temporary contract role from 15 November to 20 December,  and requires 15 -30 hours per week. Weekly operating hours are from 12 pm - 7 pm every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 17 November to 17 December (every third Saturday will extend later for special DJ events from 6:30 - 8:30 pm)

Key responsibilities:

• Operate and administer the portal, run the technology and tech checks ahead of conversations.
• Use your skill to Guide Conversations using prompts to encourage guests to open up, and maneuver awkward and difficult situations
• Maintain the portal equipment (including using keystoning, edge blending, and correct audio and video display)
• Share post connection updates. Take and share photos and videos captured during the connection
• Fill out  connection reports after every connection and report tech issues if any, so we can help you do your work better!

We are looking for someone with:

• Prior experience in cross-cultural facilitation,  crowd management and/or events experience.
• Flexible schedule to accommodate the operating schedule listed above 
• Friendly and outgoing personality, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially in English.
• Punctuality and responsiveness, proficient in communication tools like Slack and Gmail.

Notes on compensation: As an independent contractor, you are responsible for your taxes, including self-employment taxes. This role does not offer employee benefits such as health insurance, retirement benefits, or paid time off. You will be responsible for any work-related expenses. Term and Termination: The agreement is effective for the specified project/duration and can be terminated by Shared_Studios or the Contractor at any time.
