Creating global field trips for 6,000 students
Andover School District has been a long-term collaborator with Shared_Studios for the past 4 years. Portals we initially brought into the classrooms as a virtual field trip, enabling teachers to take their classes to visit far flung regions of the world like Iraq and Honduras without ever leaving the classroom.
We brought an inflatable Portal to Andover and trained local staff to facilitate the moderation and to set up/break down the Portal. With this, the Portal could be brought to multiple schools within the district over the course of the year.
Each year, more than 10 schools and 6,000 students in Andover participate in Portal connections. Four schools have created curriculum around the Portal experiences and Andover School District has partnered with and brought Portals to 7 other New England Schools and 10+ non-profits and community organizations..
